About EFAA

The Ethiopian Federal Advocates Association is Ethiopia's Bar Association, dedicated to promoting ethical, competent, and independent advocacy.

Our Mandate

The Ethiopian Federal Advocates Association (EFAA) was established under Proclamation No.1249/2021 as the official regulatory body for the advocacy profession in Ethiopia.

EFAA is mandated to regulate the advocacy profession, oversee membership, manage Continuing Professional Development (CPD), enforce ethics, and represent advocates nationwide. Our mission is to ensure that all advocates in Ethiopia maintain the highest standards of professional conduct while serving the public interest.

As Ethiopia's Bar Association, we are committed to promoting access to justice, upholding the rule of law, and supporting the professional development of advocates throughout the country.

Our Responsibilities

EFAA fulfills a range of critical functions to regulate and support the legal profession in Ethiopia

Regulating Advocates

Overseeing the professional conduct, licensing, and standards of advocates practicing in Ethiopia. Ensuring all advocates meet the required qualifications and maintain professional competence.

Enforcing Ethics

Maintaining and enforcing high ethical standards within the legal profession. Investigating complaints and taking disciplinary action when necessary to protect the public interest.

CPD & Training

Providing and accrediting Continuing Professional Development programs to ensure advocates stay current with legal developments and maintain their professional skills.

Membership Administration

Managing advocate registration, membership renewals, and maintaining the official register of practicing advocates in Ethiopia.

Public Interest & Access to Justice

Promoting access to justice for all citizens and representing the interests of the public in matters relating to the legal profession.

Policy & Advocacy

Representing advocates' interests in policy discussions and advocating for improvements to the legal system and profession.
